David Child had two Common Redstarts in the geese field this morning, and the Veron’s had 2 Whimbrel, 2 Sparrowhawks, 2 Peregrines and a Kestrel over Mannez reserve whilst ringing. There were 6 Rvens, 2 Whimbrel and a Sparrowhawk over Longis reserve this morning but the latter species probably involved the same birds seen at Mannez. We also had a report from yesterday of a Common Redstart in Barrackmasters Lane.

Ringing at Longis and Mannez produced 57 new birds and included another UK Sedge Warbler  ‘control’, 28 Willow Warblers, 1 Whinchat, 1 Stonechat, 2 Meadow Pipits, 6 Sedge Warblers, 1 Spotted Flycatcher and a Water Rail got September off to a good start.
