This young House Martin was brought into the bird observatory yesterday morning, it was found floundering in the road at Braye, possibly fallen from a nest a few days ahead of naturally fledging, it is otherwise very chirpy and it is doing very well taking crickets and grasshoppers caught in our garden.

Whilst this bird would likely not have survived, this post is a timely reminder that lots of young birds are currently leaving the nest and for the vast majority their best chance of survival is to be left where they are, mum and dad will almost certainly be close by and have things in hand.
