A Woodcock took flight as the Essex nets were opened this morning. There were 3 Bar-tailed Godwits on Longis beach and 2 Grey Plovers in Braye Bay. 1 Grey Wagtail and 2 Skylarks passed over Essex. This afternoon Paul Veron had a Snow Bunting and a Great Northern Diver (locations to follow)

The highlights of todays ringing were at Longis reserve where we had our second Bullfinch this week, another 1st year female. Also our 17th Yellow-browed Warbler of the autumn and 5 Fieldfares. At Essex farm 2 Firecrests and a part leucistic Song Thrush. Warblers are still coming through with 10 Blackcaps and  4 Chiffchaffs. Todays concerted efforts saw 41 new birds ringed from 17 species.

A morning sea-watch by Paul Veron produced amongst other species skuas and scoters (full list to follow)

A late afternoon sea-watch by the visiting ringers produced some 35 Mediterranean Gulls, a dozen Kittiwakes and a Common Gull (only the 3rd record this year).
