Fabulous migration again today, this post going out to all those who have been asking for daily ringing total breakdowns. For 2022 we will be returning to the daily publishing of our ringing totals on our website, it seems a popular feature as several ABO members have requested we bring it back.
Today we ringed 270 new birds as follows; 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Robin, 7 Song Thrush, 182 Redwing, 20 Fieldfare, 10 Blackbird, 1 Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff, 3 Wren, 1 Blue Tit, 16 Starling, 9 Chaffinch, 11 Brambling, 2 Greenfinch, 2 Bullfinch.
15 Barnacle Geese were the highlight of today’s census but the bird of the day was most definitely a Starling caught at Mannez reserve wearing a Russian ring! Can’t wait to discover the history of this bird that has potentially travelled thousands of miles.
