At Platt Saline beach 25 Ringed Plovers, 3 Dunlin, 5 Sanderling, 2 Turnstone and 9 White Wagtail. David Wedd reports around 40 Wagtails at the same location yesterday.
1 Whinchat, 3 Stonechat and a Sparrowhawk at the North end of the airport runway
On Longis Common about 60 Greenfinches, 1 Wheatear, Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Also 5 Bar-tailed Godwits and a Grey Plover (over).
Ringing today returned 104 new birds from 16 Species. The highlights were: 2 Blackcap controls each with a Belgium ring caught in Essex Farm and processed by our visiting ringers from Yorkshire. At Longis reserve the first 9 birds extracted were all Robins with 17 in total ringed this morning. Also ringed were 29 Blackcap, 5 Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warbler, 1 Sedge Warbler, 1 Reed Warbler, 5 Whitethroat, 1 Whinchat, 33 Swallow and 2 Sand Martins.
